On Tuesday, 29th September 2026, His Excellency NAITO Yasushi, Ambassador of Japan to Malawi and Ms. Ellestina Mmame, District Commissioner for Chiradzulu District Council, signed a grant contract amounting to USD 132,881 (about 233 million Kwacha) under the Grant Assistance for Grassroots Project. Through this project, Chiradzulu District Council will construct a Community Based Child Care Centre (CBCC) and a Health Post in one place at Masuku Village in Chiradzulu District. Grant Assistance for Grass-roots Projects (GGP) is a Japanese Government grant aid scheme introduced in 1989 to respond to the diverse development needs in developing countries. The aim is to provide financial assistance to non-profit development organisation for implementing projects at grassroots level. What’s GGP?
