1. General Information
Visa applicants submit application documents directly to the Embassy.
Processing period
The standard period is 5 working days to accept an application with all required attach documents or it may more time depending on the visa.
Visa validity
Single entry visa is only valid for 3 months.
Visa fee
23,100 Malawi Kwacha payable in cash only at the time of collection.
Working hours
Monday-Friday 8:30-11:30 13:30-16:30
Close Saturday, Sunday, Click here for holidays.
2. Type of Visa
(1) Short-term stay For those who have temporary visits of up to 90 days for business affairs, visiting relatives or acquaintances, tourism etc. that does not include remunerative activities.

(2) Work or Long-term stay For those who perform remunerative work in Japan or a stay of over 90 days in Japan etc. also hold Certificate of Eligibility. Click here (21/4/2023)

Other than Malawi nationality
Those who have Malawian permanent/temporary residence or work/business permit.
