The Cultural section of the Embassy visited Christian Heritage Primary school, Area 14, Lilongwe, on the 10th December 2010. The 250 pupils watched a DVD about Japanese culture, technology, food, children’s life and contributions towards the international society. Through the DVD, they also had an opportunity to learn some simple Japanese expressions like ‘good morning’, ‘thank you’, and ‘good bye’.
Finally the pupils and the teachers practiced Origami and they were taught how to make a samurai helmet using a square paper.
♥ Origami (ori means "folding", and kami means "paper") is the traditional Japanese folk art of paper folding. The goal of this art is to transform a flat sheet of material into a finished sculpture through folding and sculpting techniques without cutting or using glue. |
