The Embassy of Japan organised three Japanese traditional demonstrations: Japanese cooking, Ikebana (Japanese flower arrangement) and Sado (tea ceremony). Many guests were attracted by the beauty and taste of Japanese tradition. Not only observing how to arrange flowers with certain rules of Ikebana, some guests even tried it by themselves with some instruction of a Japanese demonstrator. For Japanese cooking, guests learned how to make sushi roll, called Norimaki and for tea ceremony, they tasted Japanese traditional green tea, which was quite different from what they were used to drink. The Embassy received many positive opinions towards these demonstrations, which has prompted us to introduce our culture to Malawi more actively. |
