Handover Ceremony of Second-Hand Footballs from Japan

as Part of the Sport for Tomorrow Program

 On November 10, 2016, on behalf of the Government of Japan, Ambassador Nishioka handed over 340 second-hand footballs from high schools and NGOs in Japan as well as 34 new footballs from Be Forward Headquarters in Japan to selected primary schools across Malawi as part of the Sport for Tomorrow Program. The event was held at Kamuzu Institute for Sports in Lilongwe and was graced by Mr. Samuel Madula, Principal Secretary for Labour, Youth, Sports and Manpower Development. During the event, students from 4 neighboring schools: Kawale, Nanjati, Mchesi, and Chisamba Primary Schools took part in activities including Kick-Target and Friendly Match, and displayed their skills and teamwork both in the boys and girls matches. Mr. Genki Nakamura, the Japanese player from Be Forward Wanderers also attended the event as Special Guest, and demonstrated his skills. The donated footballs will be distributed to selected schools in all 34 Education Districts in Malawi through Malawi School Sports Association.
