Handover Ceremony of Kendo Equipment Donation
April 2, 2016 |
On April 2, 2016, Ambassador Nishioka, on behalf of the All Japan Kendo Federation, handed over donated kendo equipment to the Kendo Association of Malawi. In his speech, Ambassador Nishioka said that the ceremony was a very special occasion, as it showed that the Kendo Association of Malawi’s long-standing efforts to practice and promote this traditional Japanese martial art have been recognized by the All Japan Kendo Federation. The donation was made possible also because of the initiative taken by members of the Kendo Association of Malawi in reaching out to the Japanese side as well as the requests made by many Japanese kendo players and Japanese Overseas Cooperation Volunteers who have supported the Association over the years. Ambassador Nishioka hoped that the donation will further encourage the Malawian kedo players to continue practicing and promoting kendo for many years to come. The ceremony was graced by the Guest of Honour, Mr. George Jana, Executive Secretary of the National Sports Council.
