        | Japanese Ambassador's Second Judo Championships   June 20, 2015 Lilongwe, Kamuzu Institute for Sports |    
        
          | On June 20, 2015, the Judo Association of Malawi and the Embassy of Japan hosted the  Japanese Ambassador's Second Judo Championships at the Kamuzu Institute for Sports in Lilongwe. The event was attended by Mr. Sam Madula, Principal Secretary of the Ministry of Youth and Sports Development, and other officials from the government and sports organizations.   During the championships, the Malawian Judo athletes demonstrated  their hard work mastering the skills and principles of Judo. In his closing speech, Ambassador  Nishioka mentioned that since Judo was introduced as an Olympic sport in  1964 at the Tokyo Olympic Games, Judo has developed into an international sport, and  that Malawi joined th International Judo Federation in 2010 as the 200th member  country. The Ambassador also noted improvements from last year on how the  atheletes are now practicing Judo, thanks to the training by the Japanese  Overseas Cooperation Volunteer Mr. Yoshihiro Matsuo, who retured to Japan  shortly after the championships. Ambassador Nishioka said that he hoped that the Malawian judo trainers will continue  training the young athletes, so that some of them will be able to compete in  Tokyo during the 2020 Olympic Games.   |     Group photo shot
